Introduction

I began writing You Watch My Back — And I’ll Watch Yours with a simple idea: survival is never meant to be a solo act.

In this world, a shadowed organization known only as The Mission recruits people in pairs. They are housed, paid, trained—and altered. Each pair is sent into dangerous situations across the globe, missions so volatile that most recruits meet for the first time while trying to save each other’s lives. Trust isn’t earned slowly. It’s forged under pressure, in the seconds between escape and death.

Most recruits begin as human. Some arrive with uncommon skills. Others discover new abilities only after The Mission has claimed them. Whatever they were before, they do not leave unchanged.

This book is the opening chapter of a larger series. I’ve always loved worlds that continue—where characters don’t disappear when the final page turns. Some of the agents introduced here will move forward into their own novels. Others will step into comic form. Their stories overlap, collide, and echo—just like real missions do.

At the center of this story are two women who have never met.

LuiiLoviie is a beautiful African American Vampiress whose strength is shaped by discipline, strategy, and survival. Her character draws from my own military service and personal experiences—filtered through the dark lens of The Mission. She is lethal, controlled, and deeply aware that power always comes at a cost.

Conchita is a Hispanic Amazonian warrior woman, descended from an ancient tribe of female fighters. Her supernatural abilities manifest as extreme superhuman strength and necromantic power—abilities that place her somewhere between legend and weapon. She does not know LuiiLoviie exists. Yet.

Their powers are not accidents. They are the result of belonging to The Mission—an organization that does not create heroes, only assets.

You Watch My Back — And I’ll Watch Yours is a story about partnership, transformation, and the quiet terror of realizing you were chosen because you could survive what others could not.

Because in The Mission, survival is never guaranteed.
But loyalty is the only way out.
